Capital Project Update: New Wing Spaces Offer Choice & Comfort

wing spaces

At the far end of the wing, where the sunlight streams in, students nestle into soft chairs and read. Nearby, students roll chairs around a table and work with their teacher on new math skills. The large space is lined with built-in cubbies and class projects; every aspect invites children to lean into learning.

Welcome to the new and improved wing spaces of Increase Miller Elementary and Meadow Pond Elementary! The open areas between classrooms have undergone a transformation this past summer and are ready for one-on-one conferences, all-grade presentations and everything in-between. MORE

Connecting on the Challenge Course

The students were stuck. They had a limited number of graham crackers—little rubber mats—on which to walk from one side of the chocolate river to the other, and not enough to complete the journey. “We’re going to have to jump!” said the student at the front of the line. He leapt about five feet, barely crossing the rope that represented the river's edge.

“We can’t all jump that far,” said one of his classmates.

“If it doesn’t work for everyone, it’s not a solution,” said another.

Conclusions like that are the gold standard of teamwork, and exactly why John Jay Middle School’s sixth grade was visiting Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES’ Challenge Course. “Teamwork is the overall theme of our field trips this year,” said Principal Jeff Swiatowicz. MORE

Top Honors for the Class of 2025!

Val and Sal

Cheers were heard up and down John Jay High School's hallways when Principal Steven Siciliano announced the top honors for the Class of 2025. Congratulations to Valedictorian Dakota Cameron and Salutatorian Kate Stevens!

The stand-out students are more than academically amazing.

Dakota won the Visionary Engineering Award for her Science Research project ”Utilization of Plastic Fiber Wastes from the Fast Fashion Industry in Concrete to Mitigate Environmental Impacts of Plastic and Enhance Concrete Strength.” She’s been part of the Creative Portfolio Program at Writopia since she was invited to join as an 8th grader, and a member of John Jay’s Field Hockey team.

Kate is a competitive dancer, junior member of the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps and volunteer at Northern Westchester Hospital. She’s also involved in extracurricular clubs including Best Buddies Club, Campus Congress and Relay for Life, and tutors each week for Reach Out John Jay.

Hall of Fame Honors Athletes & Shares Their Stories

Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

“Welcome home,” said Athletic Director Chris McCarthy from the podium, looking at a group of John Jay High School’s most accomplished athletes, ever. The phrase said it all.

John Jay High School Athletics’ Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held on September 20, 2024, was a sweet homecoming. Like the best reunions, it was a purposeful passing on of family stories to the new generation—John Jay’s current athletes.

The 16 inductees spanned John Jay’s graduating classes of 1986 – 2012 and included the four Bocklet siblings— Mike (’03), Matt (’04), Chris (’08) and Casey (’11)—who all went on to play lacrosse professionally; basketball player Raegan Knox (’12), who still holds John Jay’s record for most points scored; and football and baseball star Sean Scott (’88) who was drafted by the Oakland A's.
